You know me as a builder of V2 related vehicles and not to forget the rocket it self, but now I’m working on a TAKOM model of the V1 on it’s launcher. At first I was very glad about this new kit of TAKOM a model long waited for. But yes there is a but, the joy of having this model was soon gone when I started to build and using my documentation on the original. I have to warn you all for this model it is incomplete and not correct and not following the TAKOM standards. What is wrong:The operational launcher has 8 rail parts the model just 5 so 3 shortThe launcher is also missing the frame’s (strut’s) for these 3 rail parts. The launcher has to be under an angel of 6 degree from horizontal but the model stands under 12 degree. Because of the model’s 12 degree the struts in the kit are useless. At the end of the launcher there is a last special rail part were the V1 separates from the kolbe . The connection between the steam generator and the launcher is not in the kit. The V1 is laying on a sled and hooked in to the kolbe this sled is missing The diameter of the V1 is 2.4 mm to big, when you know a V1 it is visible on the model. At the left side of the launcher is a footpad to the top of the launcher this is not in the kit. Also missing on the left top of the launcher is a handrail. And before I forget the under side of the launcher rail construction is open and showing a lot of details. Sadly the model has a blinded of with a full plate…. To make a complete launcher you need to buy a second kit for the necessary extra rail parts. At the moment I did buy for almost € 95,— of Evergreen profiles to correct the model The people from TAKOM did visit the British IMW at Hendon airport did take measurements and pictures and did hurry to the Airfield to take their plane back home. They did not do any research on this item off a “V1 on a launch site” the result can you see already in the box art. You see the start gerate at the right side of the launcher sorry TAKOM it belongs to the left. And just some day’s of search on the WWW would have given them more than 75 % of the info to make it correct. BUT a good reconstructed model will give you a very large and good looking model of almost 2 mtr .
